Real-Time Vehicle Queue Detection at Urban Traffic Intersection using Image Processing

Abstract

The present study proposes a vision-based technique for Vehicle Queue Detection at Urban Traffic Intersection.  The methodology used in this approach is based on image processing. System components include: 1) image sensors - images are captured by a camera; 2) central processing unit (CPU) - processes the various image related tasks; 3) MATLAB software to execute algorithm and used as an image processing tool. Gabor wavelets technique has been used to extract features from images.  The proposed system works effectively in different situations to ensure efficient vehicle detection at the traffic intersection.
